Lawn care products that are safe to use around pets and wildlife

I am unable to use commercial fertilizers and weed inhibitor products in my backyard due to my dog eating grass and lounging outside as the weather permits. Many of the lawn care products have severe consequences if ingested.

I also feed the wild birds, and many of ground feeders such as Doves, Toehees, and others species could be harmed by chemicals in lawn care products.

Are there safe products to feed the lawn and a keep the weeds under control around the border?
