White toothpaste (not gel), a damp cloth, and toothbrush. Put a dab of toothpaste on the cloth and rub the water marks. Use a damp toothbrush in the rough areas.
Apply a generous amount of butter and let it sit for 24 hours. Remove with cloth or paper towel. This works for water rings on stained wood - not sure it will work on "rough" wood.
Hi Rick, apply a dab of mayonnaise with a soft cloth and rub it into the grooves with a toothbrush. Leave it on for an hour or two (or even overnight) and wipe and buff with a soft, clean cloth until. If the watermark is quite deep, dip a rag into a mild solvent such as mineral spirits or odorless paint thinners. Squeeze the excess out and then rub gently until the stain is gone. Best of luck
