Hi, I am removing 4 rooms of carpet from my up stairs.

I want to know what kind of inexpensive floor can I put down. Also, I don' t what kind of underlayment that is under this carpet? It looks like squares of cheap
cork wood. Please tell me what to do.

    I had the same problem. I found stick down parket wood flooring. Very inexpensive, and very durable. Mine has been down for almost 20 years. I thought I would never find it again, low and behold, I found it. Now I'm going to do my living room.

    inexpensive depends on your area....linoleum type floors are generally the least expensive. the underlayment may be made of recycled materials. make sure your floor is free of staples, nail heads etc. if you put sheet goods over it ..it might pop through the flooring.

    You could try using vinyl plank flooring. It is fairly cheap and comes in hundreds of patterns. You only need a utility knife to install it and it looks beautiful when done.

    What are vinyl plank floors, also where do I find them. This option is what I need, thanks for the advice.

    You can find at Lumber Liquidators, Lowes and Home Depot... they are very trendy right now. If the cork is in good shape, I would ask the seller if you could glue down right on top of the cork.....as it is probably is glued down and will make a horrible mess.
