These windows are impossible to reach from indoors, the are over very steep stairs. We are on a very tight budget in our new home.
What about window tint?
Your best bet will be to use a privacy film if you want to cover them.It is available at Home depot on a roll to ba able to cut to the size you need,
There is a spray paint to make the windows look opec, or you can use etching cream to permanently etch the windows.
Do you need to cover them? They look high enough that you can't see in. I love the simple look of nothing. But if need be, I like the idea of a privacy film. Keep it simple because of all the angles.
Expansion curtain rods can work on an angle and can be small enough to hold a lightweight curtain. I have found that window film shows a lot of dirt and water spots. Since the windows are sooo high, washing them is probably a rare occurrence and curtains can keep that secret!
If you are covering to limit sunlight to prevent fading of furniture, flooring, etc. I would start by looking on Amazon at the cling type window films as they will offer more sizes and designs. You can probably rent a ladder to at least do the measuring of the windows. If you decide to use cling film be sure your windows are very clean, you'll need a squeegee, a squirt bottle and an Xacto knife to trim the film. I used a wallpaper install company to put film on my closet doors because I can't work with my arms above my shoulders. The big advantage to cling film is that it can be taken off and reapplied, and it leaves no residue like Contact paper does.
The window is the eye-catching part of this space. I love being able to see out and assume that with the height nobody can see in. I anything, maybe some see-through clear glass texture covering. It's a gorgeous window/space as is.
Find a friend or hire a person to bring an extra tall ladder for this job. If you don't want some kind of translucent film, I suggest a bunch of glass vases in a color or colors that go with your decor. I have several blue translucent dishes and vases and no where to put them. Your window spaces would easily display vases of several heights. When the sun shines in, the vases will lessen fading and provide a lovely glow. When inside lights are on, a hint of that glow will show outside. Bake your friend some chocolate chip cookies and have my best wishes.
