Trying to get my craft area organized on a zero budget...ideas?

I would use the black and white contact paper to cover the coffee boxes (and any other boxes that are available)...and then arrange the boxes on the wire shelves to hold your crafting supplies and projects. Use small pieces of the chalkboard contact paper to label each box after you have decided what to put inside the boxes. For the clothing racks....you could hang things like spools of ribbon, pieces of fabric, etc on hangers and that would keep them somewhat organized and out of the way as well. Good luck!

you can look for alternative pretty storage at garage sales and thrift stores. Make your own storage using cereal boxes and cover with your contact paper, make your own bespoke labels like chalk labels, look in the kitchen for ideas like using a lazy Susan or make your own storage cupboard using an old bookcase and paint it, put walkpaper on a back panel for a pop of colour or use your contact paper?

I'm not sure what coffee boxes are, and whether they are cylinders or rectangular. The stainless steel shelves sound perfect for holding cardboard. If you have gift wrap or newspaper pages, you can cover the outside of boxes to make them more attractive and slightly more sturdy. If the shelves are very shallow, you can create cardboard shelf covers and keep flat things on the slide outs, like decorative papers and letters.

But I was so excited that I got ahead of myself. First, you need to take a fast inventory to see what you need to store. If you have a big machine that cuts stencils, you need a desk strong enough to hold it. Look around until you have a end table or something like that. But if your biggest craft supply is tons of fabric, you can put the fabric on hangers in the clothing rack. If you have twelve pairs of craft scissors, you have coffee boxes or something similar to use. If you have bunches of beads or buttons, maybe you can get a styrofoam egg carton to sort and hold them. I started setting up my (mostly) craft room by getting all the small cardboard and plastic boxes and shoe boxes I could find. I made some changes as I went, and mine don't match, but everything is in a container with the contents labeled with a marker, and almost everything is stored in one closet and one bookcase. Have fun as you go, give away supplies you don't care about any more (children's and adults' groups), and be flexible. Oh, yes, take lots of before, during and after photos and post them on Hometalk! I love to use empty kleenex boxes to organize, and with alergy season in full swing we always have a lot of them! I feel like they are the perfect size for so many things. Along with your contact paper, chalk paint is another great cover all, and if you make your own is very reasonable. The dollar store is also a great place for organizing containers. Let your creative side out and you will have an attractive, organized space in no time.
