How can I protect my Tomato plants from hornworms when I am away?

    Use a sytemic granular organic fertilizer for insects.

    Could you explain that further? I am not familiar with fertilizers for insects.

    There are fertilizers that include an insecticide - so when the plant's roots absorb the chemicals the insecticide goes throughout the entire plant, thus killing anything that eats it. I haven't heard of an organic one, but I think Spectracide makes something that you can safely put on vegetables and fruits in the garden.
