My daughter just bought her first home and knows absolutely nothing about how to take care of plants or flowers. I know I'm planting tulips and daffodils for her in the fall, but I am having trouble coming up with other plants for her front garden. We live in zone 6 of that helps.

Put in a perineal like 4 o'clocks or something that will re-seed themselves like marigolds

Perennials are easy to for a beginner gardener. Hostas and daylilies are no brainers for a beginner! And many varieties and colors for both! Quickly map out the sun and shade areas, so you know what to plant. Hostas for more shady areas, daylilies for sun. So many other perennials!! Have fun!

Go to Near by garden Center with your Daughter and have a Talk with them. Go to Library and get a couple Gardening Books. and Read up on planting perennials etc... other wise I would let your Daughter work it out on her own.. You and Her can plant the Flower bulbs together ... that way she can see how its done and DO the work herself..

Wise advice from Jean. If your daughter is uninterested in plants and caring for them you may end up doing a lot of work and then feeling resentful if the plants die, unless you are willing to become her full time gardener. My sister believes in "survival of the fittest" and she thinks that's funny, so I stopped giving her plants and telling her what to do for them.
