Select a sunny location with well-drained soil that is free of weeds and is well-worked. It's best to locate your blueberry plants in an area where irrigation is readily available as best results will be achieved by keeping the root zone moist throughout the growing season.

Buy plant netting. As soon as the flowers are gone the berries grow from the base of the flower stems. Put netting over those areas. Otherwise the birds will eat every ripe blueberry. After learning this the hard way I solved my problem by keeping them in pots in my screened patio.
