Inspiration: Rustic Home in the City

My Home With Style
by My Home With Style
I love seeing the great pictures of homes that are built in the woods. Those log cabin styles, with dark wood furniture, wood paneling on the walls, and other rustic details make the homes feel cozy. While this is a fantastic visual, I’ll always be a city person. But these days, especially with Pinterest at our disposal, inspiration can become a reality, no matter where you live! Here are some of my favorite finds (see the corresponding images below).

Throws and blankets

Curling up in a warm throw or blanket is a classic image of rustic living in the woods. The type of throws I've been loving are these animal printed ones. It’s almost like having a bearskin rug or hunted prize on your way, but way less expensive and comfortable!

Warm lighting
Soft, warm lighting gives off the feel of lighted candles without any risk of fire. Check out the DIY idea from this blog to create linen lampshades.

Softness against the chill
Wood paneling or brick walls in a bathroom bring a great deal of character – and chill. Soft towels mounted on a wood or wire rack in a simple bathroom (maybe with an exposed tub!) lets you pretend you’re in a cold cabin in the woods with this bathroom style!
Roaring fire

There is no end to the kinds of fireplace simulations you can find. Where it’s just an electric crackling fireplace in lieu of real fireplace or a digital fire on your living room TV, it adds instant warmth.
