How to get rid of weeds in flower beds without using pesticides?

We have tried pulling the weeds putting down newspapers (3 -4 sheets) wet and overlap and applied mulch ( 3-4 in. thick). The weeds just keep coming back. I hate to think about pesticides, but I have to many beds to keep up. Please help

I would try the mulch method for flower beds. Cover the weeds with layers of newspaper and then cover with mulch. It will prevent them from getting oxygen and being able to grow.

Since you've already tried newspaper and mulch. Next time, perhaps try cardboard . Then apply the mulch.

I will try the home made weed killer, as soon as it quits raining! Thanks for your help.

Wouldn't anything that would kill the weeds also kill the flowers/plants?

Do not use the home made weed killer in flower beds, will kill flowers
