Check for your growing zone first, then check with your local nursery for what deer resistant plant will grow in your area. Check out this link to see if any will grow in your area

Deer do not like marigold. Plant them around your garden.

Deer try anything, they do not know that your plant is supposed to be not for them

Hi Joanne! My husband & I live on 3 acres bordering State Protected Conservation Land, then a mile away is another Environmentally protected Nature Preserve. Its peaceful, but we get lots of critters, and a fair share of deer! was a great resource for me when I first moved here. Location wise, deer will change what they like to eat, for example I live in Western, MA, deer that eat my tulips with a big hearty smile, may walk 5 miles and hate the tulips there! Things that deter deer: thorny branches, hair, decaying fish heads, garlic, fabric softener, sewage, etc. may only work for a few days because they may decide they like your plants... This is all courtesy of, you can find out what to do, depending on the area you live right on the website. Who knew deterring deer was so darn complicated?! Where would you even get processed sewage or rotting fishheads for your garden? Gross! Do you ask the guy at Home Depot to throw a pallet in the back of my new Passat? Sorry Joanne, I'm not trying to make light, I just am going thru the same... deer and ground hogs!! Best of Luck!
