How do I remove a hard-water stain from a Zodiaq kitchen counter?

I have tried a few things suggested by the manufacturer, or installer, or Home Depot: wash with soft white damp cloth (that did not help); windex on a soft white cloth left in place for a couple hours (ditto); distilled white vinegar on a soft white cloth left in place a couple hours (ditto); a HD (Zep) aerosol spray-on product for cleaning/polishing countertops (ditto). I have also seen baking soda recommended on a website and Bar Keeper's Friend. The stain was under a dish drainer where there must have been some dripping I was unaware of. Our water is from a well and very hard/mineral-laden. I am selling the house, and don't want to go to the expense of a professional refinisher unless necessary. Thanks for any suggestions; I am afraid to be too "vigorous" and damage the countertop. - Elise K.

What is the counter made of?

  It is called Zodiac. It is a product that is engineered with pure quartz crystals, according to their literature. It is supposed to be very durable and stain-resistant. Thanks for trying to help out.

  How would I use the vinegar, Velva? I did try it, by putting it on a soft cotton cloth and covering the stain for a couple of hours. That didn't work, but perhaps you know of a different method that might have a better result. Thanks for trying to help out!

  Hi, William! I did try some of the methods on this website, which didn't work at all. The ones I haven't tried yet are more "aggressive" or "abrasive". Have you tried any of these methods with a good result? Thanks for trying to help out!

I appears the minerals along with water have etched into the countertop. This has been an ongoing problem with quartz countertops. You have tried everyhing possible and nothing has worked. You may need a professional to repair the damage.
