I am in the same situation. What I am doing to solve the problem is this. First, go through every box, bag, etc. Here's where it gets hard....be brutal! Decide what you want to keep. Then what you want to sell or give away. Put everything you definitely want to keep in clear plastic totes and store them on shelves. That way you can see (without labeling) what you have in the totes. Hope this helps.
Some other ideas are depending on your ceiling, you can buy shelving that hangs from the ceiling for additional storage. Also use hooks to hang things like bikes or anything else that can hang and clear up floor space.

Try floating shelves around the perimeter - then you can put the things you don't need access to off of the floor!
