How to make a flower garden on cement?

I would love to have pretty flowers in my front yard, but here in the desert it's just too hot (100 days at over 100 degrees each summer!

Use pots, big, small, whatever you have. Cram them in. Plant flowers, herbs, whatever you like. Just keep them well watered. It will work. Have fun.
Look up what flowers grow best in your zone! Most flowers do well growing in pots but as Naomie said, make sure they are watered well. You also want to make sure you do not over water as that will harm them as well!
I would take notice of what people in your neighborhood are able to grow on their porches. You will notice what seems to thrive and also what catches your eye as being attractive. If someone has a particularly nice collection on their porch, maybe you can stop by and ask them about it? Have fun!
Try drought tolerant plants for your area.
I also live in the desert and I have had really good luck with Portulaca in pots in the summer. Portulacaria also for just green.
I should have also mentioned that because we are in the middle of the desert, the rabbits run wild and eat the plants I've had any success with. Anyone know of rabbit-resistant, heat-resistant plants? I'm about ready to just plant fake flowers, but they'd fade too quickly haha!
