Need DIY side trays/arm extensions for medical geri-chair

I have a geri-chair , Drive model D574EW-BR. It's s a heavy duty medical recliner used in labs, hospitals and nursing homes.I really need to have something like the side trays that labs use to hold supplies or to support a patient's arms during IV's with similar chairs. I have multiple serious medical problems and have severe shoulder pain, making extending my arms much better for pain relief rather than keeping them close to my side. Drive has no accessory like this. How can I make something simple and inexpensive to attach to each side of my geri-chair that I can cushion or use a pillow on for comfort? I can't think of anything but know some of you can help. Thank you so much in advance!icon

Oh no! My photo is too small to see! Sorry!

It looks to me like a good handyman could fashion something that attaches where the tray attaches. Without physically seeing it's difficult to be specific.

Using the model number you provided I was able to see a larger picture, and I'm thinking some lightweight wood or even maybe heavy plastic in a |___| shape turn with the open side to fit over the existing arm rest but be longer then it could be padded & covered to your comfort.

Here are a lot of photos of armrest tables that slip over an armrest. Maybe you could find someone handy that can build one for you. If you were local I would be happy to build one or two.

Thanks for the great link! I never thought to look there. Some of the ideas look pretty simple to make. I don't have anyone handy like that anymore but will keep thinking. It's very kind of you offer to build the tables if we lived closer. I appreciate your help!
