Does anyone have a good way to keep weeds out of a strawberry bed?

Are u in city or country?? Pull as many weed as u can by hand & get the root too. In rows between berries use spade or claw tool from garden set to dig $mix dirt to get more weeds. Pull what I can from around berries and then put dow thick layer of mulch(from garden store not homemade!!) around plants & in trench. Remember....THICK L

I use this mix for my own garden. No weeds. Mix with 4cu ft of peat moss, 4 cu ft of vermiculite and 5 different types of natural compost. It will have all the nutrients you need for the next 5 years with no chemicals. It will not pack down and it keeps the airflow to your plants

use shredded newspaper watered for a couple days...it packs tight and prevents seeds from germinating and future seeds from planting in the soil...make sure to leave space around the plant so as not to choke them....later if needed, poke a few water holes in the paper with an ice pick

I agree you have to pull the weeds by the roots. Then use Preen, but it can get expensive depending on how big your strawberry patch is. I have tried the newspaper trick in my vegetable garden. If you want to try that, I lay newspaper down and then put our grass clippings on top of the paper. Just remember when you're on your knees pulling those weeds, how good those home grown strawberries taste. Yum. Good luck.
