What types of flowering perennials grow well in the heat of the south?

Need ideas for colorful flowering garden. I find it tough in this heat to grow anything besides cactus and other succulents.

    Well four o'clocks are amazing! You just poke the seed in with your finger and water.....that's it! AND the great thing about them is they reseed themselves.

    Bulbs or tubbers are your better flowers down here in the south. If you are looking for something kinda small.

    Portulaca! Also called Purslane. Low growing, spreading, many different colors, available at big box stores with garden centers. Annuals, but not expensive. Require very little care and do great in the long months of upper 90s heat of central FL

    Black eyed susan, hibiscus, portulaca, chickory, grasses come in a variety of shapes and colors.
