First off I store linen sets inside their respective pillow cases. It keeps everything together nicely and it's compact :)
If you don't have a closet for them than you might consider storing them in an chest that you can keep at the foot of your bed.

I keep the linens in the room they are used in....folded and put in one of the pillow cases. Basically 2sets for winter and 2sets for summer, in an under bed storage box or in the chest at the foot of the bed that also functions as a seat for putting socks on.

If you are limited on space you can always store extra linens between the box spring and mattress of your bed. If you can make room in a drawer, vacuum bags can help condense. A picnic basket is large enough to hold spare sheets without taking much space.

An armoire makes a pretty storage piece for linens. We do not have a linen cabinet in our master bathroom, so we put an armoire in the bedroom to hold sheets, towels, and even a few extra toiletries. It works perfectly!

I like storing matching pieces in their respective pillow cases. Also, we have a rotation - we use two sets for a while, and keep the rest on the top of the closet shelves so we don't have to dig through so many linens each time and use too much of our super accessible storage space.
