Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
I don't know of any plantings that repel snakes, however, if you clean up your yard and provide less habitat for them to hide, you will see less snakes. Remove brush piles and trim overgrown bushes. Keep the yard mowed as well and remove debris (including overturned planters, any wood pallets, old tarps, etc.) Make sure any wooden decking areas extend tightly to the ground, a raised deck is a great spot for snakes to set up housekeeping. I had a black racer (male) who lived around, under, and on my gardening cart for many years and we just learned to ignore each other. (The males establish territory and the females 'come-a-calling'.) More snakes in your yard usually equals less rodents so there is often a plus side to every problem in nature. In summary, either 'embrace the snake' or clean it up. Good luck!
Believe this or not, but at Lowes I bought a can of snake repellant! It smells like urine and apparently snakes don't like it. You might check this out.
I had moth balls in flower beds no snakes
I have read the the pool filter medium diatomaceous earth sprinkled around your property will keep snakes away. Apparently the roughness of the DE will hurt their bellies and they won't cross that line
I've recently read about lemon grass plants and marigold plants because of the smell.
