Favorite plants for hanging baskets that can take the heat?

Just wondering what your go-to plants are for hanging baskets? I live on the MS Gulf Coast and my front porch faces east so it gets full sun until noon. I need something that can really take the heat. Color is not an issue I just need something to fill up some space a bit. We have been remodeling and have just started on landscaping so it looks really bare right now.

      I have some that I forgot about in the pantry. I think I will try and root those and see how they do. Thanks!

      I had those last year and they didn't do very well. I love them though and have a few in pots that are in a shadier area and they seem to prefer that.

    Hi, Terry,

    You might want to think about Fan flower. It's a native of Australia, I believe, so is very hardy in the sun and drought conditions. I believe it only comes in one color, though, which is an indigo blue. Here is a link to info about it. https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/scaevola/new-wonder-fan-flower-scaevola-aemula  ;

      Oh that's a pretty one. I've never heard of it. I might have to see if anyone local has it.

    Wave Petunias are used in the hanging baskets on the very sunny streets of a town on Long Island, NY. They might need a daily drink but they hold up to heat beautifully!

    There are those who will likely think this tacky, but if it is hard to keep something alive in the particular place you mention, you might try something artificial...given that guests are not getting too close of a look at them. While artificial flowers seldom look real, you can get some pretty good looking artificial ferns. I have spent countless dollars trying to have nice looking hanging plants on my front porch (with little luck), so when our community went into water restrictions due to drought, I invested in some nice looking artificial hanging ferns. They are placed such that my guests do not get that close to them, and they look very nice from a few feet away. They were not cheap...as I said, I made an "investment" in these particular plants; nevertheless, this is my third summer with them, and they have held their color and shape beautifully. I bought them at Hobby Lobby...just an idea...

    Calibrachoa (million bells), petunias, bacopa, lantana, new guinea impatiens, ivy gerniums. If you have a shady spot fuschia is gorgeous.
