How can I make a large concrete patio area more inviting?

We added a large concrete "decking"/patio area next to our pool where there was formerally only grass, now we have the area we need to entertain in but it feels too "open" & not as inviting as I had hoped for!

Charlotte, I'm not sure of the size, but what about putting a patio table there? We always had a table next to our pool, ended up the kids would sit there while taking a break from swimming. Send a picture!

Thank you. We do have a patio table & chairs & some other items on the patio, but somehow it still does not feel cozy😐. I appreciate all the feedback I am getting!

You could add "walls" either by taking existing items like galvanized tubs add dirt and a trillis to them with vines. Or build a pipe curtain frame and use died or stenciled drop cloths. add casters to either for ability to move and reconfigure as necessarily

  • Once you decorate it and add a rug or two, chairs, tables, pillows, throws, lighting, candles and any other decor, it will create the mood and coziness you were hoping for.

We screened our large covered patio. Put nice wicker seating arrangement, large rug, patio table/chairs, bbq grill/ mini fridge, and a portable evap water cooler for Texas summer heat. Its our favorite place to be. Have hosted many gatherings and everyone lives the area.

I agree with Naimo Moore etc. etc. Making an outdoor room will add a cozy place to relax during the day or evening. Don't have a pool - wish I did - but have made an outdoor living rm./porch out of an old carport, and it looks cute.

This pic shows a few options. Personally the outdoor kitchen/bar would be my best option. Though I love a good campfire I would think having it so close to the pool would get ashes, etc in your pool
