Can our native RedBay and Sassafras trees in the South be saved?

A foreign insect was inadvertently released into our biosphere some years ago. This beetle works on specific species of trees and it injects a fungus which quickly kills the nature trees. The younger trees seem unaffected. It seems to me that there could be something we could spray the saplings with to prevent their deaths. But what?
