Hello, when I was a kid we had family reunions almost every couple of years, I remember it was always a pot luck sort of thing. Everyone would bring a dish and the host would have extra brats, burgers, etc... as for the kids games Pinterest is the BEST place to find ideas for just about anything. If I have a question about something I go to Pinterest first. I hope this helps, Good luck!

Have everyone bring a plate to pass or organized a food list to bring, like someone brings the buns, or hotdogs etc, also a game to play with a prize, that way everyone takes part and it dosen't cost a lot of money for the hostess

Games for kids. Piñata, water balloons, tug of war, Corn hole, bean bag toss, spoon and egg race, three legged race. Cheap prizes for everyone. Pin the tale on the donkey. Horse shoe, ring toss, badmitten. Bingo,

Have a map of the US and have everyone place a push pin to mark the city they came from and a book to sign in

I think that's the best way to go . Every family get together we have is a pot luck kind of thing and we all look forward to each others specialties . When sending out invitations , challenge everyone to make their own best dish. For those that don't cook, bring paper plates , cups , napkins , ice, etc.

I used to do an annual corporate event. They best activity was stringing macaroni. Yarn, macaroni and colored markers to decorate. Plan activities that don't need the adults to help. Paper and crayons is always a winner.

Potluck is good but you always run the risk of having 6 bowls of potato salad and one meatloaf. A signup list is good, that way you know everything is covered. Or as host one person can provide main dish, say hotdogs and hamburgers for instance and everyone else brings the fillers. Just be sure you assign paper products and ice to someone. Good Luck!

A volleyball net or badminton net, horseshoes or bocce ball, bubbles and wands, checkers, chess, cards. Maybe you can make a list of food and paper items you will need as well as how many. Include with the invite and say to please let you know which item (s) you will be bringing!

I made a quilt for the oldest male and oldest female family members that came. Gift baskets made from dollar store things given away in a drawing. Child care evening for parents that wanted to go out on the town, order pizza and have games and coloring books. Planned tours of places in town.
