I would actually recommend using the motors to fill up the space in the deepest part. I also think you could use rocks. Your hot tub is going to need some sort of drainage system. Can you drill holes thru the hot tub? With no drainage system water will collect in the bottom and could rotten the roots of your plants. I also advise laying newspaper on top of the motors and rocks. And then putting in the soil. (I use 1/3 dirt, 1/3 manure and 1/3 sand) Hope this helps. It sounds like an awesome garden.
You will need drainage, and I would not use old parts in there as who's to say what chemicals are going to be released in the garden.I would find recyclable plastic instead.
be sure there is no oil in the motors. eventually they will rust and the oil will run out. Petroleum will kill any kind of plants.
good luck please post pics,I would love to see the finished product
Gee. Too bad you don't have an old washing machine to put on you front porch and fill with petunias.
Pictures please.
