I have mail, bills, papers, coupons, receipts, etc. everywhere! We don't have room for a home office. Is there a nice looking solution to organize my mess?

  • You do not need a room to have a functioning home office. Set aside a small area, boxes, bins, whatever system that will work for you. Pens, pencils paperclips, rubber bands, binder clips all in the same area. I have a file folder for EVERYTHING!. Proper organization and labeling is the key. Repurpose a book case with some bins, a few drawers in a dresser, or purchased bins or boxes from any store. Then buy a box of file folders, (cheaper to buy a box in bulk from the office supply store), and sit down and make your folders. When you have a new category, make a new folder.

Get a cardboard file box. They are usually plain white so if you wanted you could decorate it. These will hold hanging file folders and have a cover. This way you can create a folder for each category and you now have a traveling office.

Why don't you scan those things into your computer and discard the paper clutter?

You can hang a metal basket in your kitchen for all your bills....with a sticky note for payment dates. I have binders with pockets that I use to file all my receipts alphabetically by company and then by month. I keep the binders in a box stored under a table out of the way. 98% of my bills are on auto payments to avoid late payments. And I keep a log book of when the payments cleared my bank account. And I always check my bank account daily. Less stress in the long run. You can do it! Just set aside a few hours to get started and get organized and you'll be on your way................... Best of luck.

I use a command center with one file organizer near the kitchen. The rest I digitize- it's the best way to get rid of the clutter!

coupons i keep in my purse, if not you'll never use them. today so many stores have digital coupons so there is less need to have paper ones. everything else gets put into an accordian file and nothing is kept more than a year. this way everything is in one place come tax time!
