How to fix a leak from a shower pipe that attaches to a shower head?

A renter didn't tell me the pipe holding the shower head was leaking. You can see the water stain on green board. How can you DIY fix it? Do I have to replace the green board? Entire wall or just a patch around pipe?

Depends on if it is a copper pipe that is perment affixed or one that screws in.
because you don't know the extent of the water damage to the green board or the possibility of mold behind it I would pull it and replace it.
It depends on how saturated the gree board is.
If the green board is soft or crumbly you will need to replace that. Green board is somewhat moisture and mold resistant.
Did you fix the leak?
Not yet. Have to check the board to see if damaged like discribed. Guess I'm going to have to get a pro to look at it
