How to add storage to a 2 bedroom L shaped rental apartment?

You should be able to add one of those "over the toilet" storage units. That, at least, will give you some shelving for towel & tp storage.

I have one, everything is crammed in, It's really a pain getting at what I need. There isn't any extra closet space in the hallway. The price is right for the apartment but the space is brutal.

Take out the surplus things and put them someplace else. I have risers in the guest room for the bed and it opens up a lot of space. I would do the same with my bed but it is a day bed with a trundle. Check out IKEA for some narrow shelves you could put in the hall and them put stuff in cute containers. They also have, in the bathroom section a ton of stuff. I have the grey sort of hemp fabric hanging piece that holds brushes and stuff and it is next to the sink hanging "North/South" so it is a narrow footprint.

I too have the same problem. I bought 3 white rubber coated metal racks from Lowe's. You can get them alot of places for a few dollars each. I also found them a my local thrift store. They have indentations where to put the screws. I screwed them into my bathroom door. I spaced them far enough apart so tall containers could fit on each shelf. They holds so much. You can also buy the over the door storage system that has many shelves. I have one in my hall closet. Good luck. I hope this helps.

Hi Cindy, Shelves provide good storage if you use baskets and bins to contain your toiletries. You could put shelves up pretty high. Use the high shelves for your towels and wash cloths. I would just leave them when you move instead of leaving holes in the wall that you would have to repair. Good luck.

Hi Cindy, I had the same problem in my bathroom. It was completely blue tiles form the 50's. I took out the sink and replaced it with a half size cabinet from Lowe's. If you don't want to replace the sink, you could always put a skirt around it and you'll have instant storage underneath! Here's a picture of my bathroom now. I used textured wallpaper on the top half of the walls, added self stick glass tiles right over the blue ones and left the blue tile as trim at the top. I added some bling lighting over the sink and a nice light in the center of the room. I left the original floor. I have a shoe rack hung over my bathroom door. Always have they are great for storage with many pockets to use. They are inexpensive and just hang over the door. But IKEA has some fantastic ideas for all sorts of decorating. Think out of the box, oh did I think that really! Any way they have like towel bars you can hang little buckets on. magnetic items might also work for you.

The shoe rack is soft and made of fabric so it is light weight and doesn't take up much room.

Add a shelf over the bathroom door or over the sink at door height. Roll up your extra towels and store there. Add a basket for washcloths and/or extra soap etc. Make a sink skirt and put it on with velcro. I have bed risers under all my beds and the couch! You can fit 6 laundry baskets under a full size bed, 3 + under a twin. And 2-3 underbed storage boxes under a couch. Check pinterest for storage ideas.

I agree to cover up some of your tile Another idea is to get some tile decals to put in to break up the area. I have some that have been in for years and stay put great
