Not really sure. How about painting it gold and put some flowers in it, real or fake, bake it a focal point.
I've seen where people have taken a birdcage and put a plant in it. If you use a plant that vines, it can spill out as well. I might use a wave petunia or something similar to add color and maybe add some floral pick butterflies and birds.

Spray paint it a bright color and hang from a shephards hook,then put a trailing plant inside
Put spanish moss on the bottom and up the sides a bit and fill with potted succulents. Trailing ones will look great.
