Use Pumie Scouring Sticks. This works very well on porcelain toilets. Find them at Walmart.
It definitely cleans - does not coverup. It is made from volcanic ash, I believe. It's abrasive but does not scratch, only removes stains and scratches. Very low cost as well!
Ooops, so sorry to hear that. Have you tried The Barkeepers Friend? It worked to remove scratches from our porcelain sink.
