Have standard older looking heavy front door. I would like to repaint it-any suggestions? This is an old photo-I have tons of colorful flowers on both sides in the front.

Find an exterior paint. Clean door and paint away.

What color are you drawn to? Do you want the home to POP? Take a color from one of your favorite flowers and paint away! Any color will go great with your home. I'd even consider adding cute shutters to give it more character.

I have been wanting to do the shutters-but then I would want the ones that close during big wind storms or hurricanes! Yes want a pop, but not sure about the color of red. Still trying to figure out Feng Shui colors....thank you

Lightly sand the door first then use exterior semi-gloss. Good Luck

I like to have it in a welcoming color that will also complement my interior entry. Red, yellow, shades of green are some that would look very happy in your setting. Get a few free paint chips that appeal to you from paint dept, tape them on door, then get sample paint in the colors you like & paint 6-8" samples on your door. View it at different times of day & buy the color you choose.

Sure. If it's a metal door or a wood door, shouldn't make a difference. My door was wood. I used a medium-fine grit sand paper to rough up the wood a little, then cleaned all dust off with a damp washrag, let it dry, and painted two enamel coats, letting each dry completely. I had painted my house a very light pale yellow, trimmed it in white and with the red door, it really looked great! Good luck should be easy:))))

How about plum? Then, I'd add some plain shutters on both windows in the same color. Window boxes would be another great addition! That would make your cute little house so much cuter! I want to see what you do because I love the house!

You have an adorable cottage! And the neutral color on the house siding and trim work lends itself to using any color you want as long as it's a contrasting, bold and bright color! My house is a medium gray (my contractor picked it out) with white trim, black shutters and a black roof. I considered many colors, but finally settled on a glossy red. I do not regret it! While there are 2 other gray (different shades) houses in our block, mine is the only gray house with red doors! And that is how my house is identified

    from the other two!
