Recycle Your Batting Scraps the Easy Way

This tutorial will show you a very simple way to make your batting scraps usable again so they don't end up in the trash.

1. Get your batting pieces and check if they are jagged on the edge or not (these are pretty jagged).

2. If the batting edges are jagged, trim a little off to make both edges straight.

3. Butt the two edges together as shown; don't overlap them.

4. Cut a piece of fusible interfacing about 1 inch in width and the length of the seam you need to join. (I cut a few strips and keep them handy for this type of thing.) Place the strip of interfacing down over the seam being sure to keep it even on either side of the seam.

5. Following the manufacturer's instructions, press (don't iron) the fusible interfacing to your batting seam being sure that the interfacing is sealed on well.

6. This is similar to what your joined batting will look like. Any puckers are not an issue because you won't see them once you sandwich your quilt. You as many pieces as you want, but I normally don't make my joined pieces bigger than a placemat.
