Easiest standard shape
very true because come to think of it if there was a different shape its might be alot more complicated
Not ALL doors do, but think about cutting with a scissors, it is quicker and easier to cut a straight line than to cut a circle. When a door is installed it must be supported by a frame, it is much more cost effective and quicker for a builder to construct right angles than it would be any other design.
Doors can be of any shape, but doors are mostly rectangle because they occupy less space, and they can be made easily within four cuts. Also the shape of human body is some what rectangular. They can be made with one tree we do not have to join two or three parts to make them, so they are strong, durable, and cheap.
Interesting question - something like a giant, square door could be architecturally interesting :)
Some Tudor or Spanish style houses have doors with rounded tops, but of course the general shape is rectangular.
