What is the best paint for a deck with heavy traffic?

This is an old deck. The wood is good but because of heavy traffic regular deck paint does not work well. I can't afford to replace the deck.

How about an outdoor carpet
Never painted mine in 20 years. Only seal the wood so it doesn't show wear like paint.
