What paint do I use for outside stones. I want to decorate them not just paint. So I want them them to withstand the outdoor weather. Xx

I wanted to label my plants and since there are so many rocks, decided to use those. I tried Sharpies, Painter pens and latex paint. I didn't try craft (acrylic) paint and that might work, would be inexpensive, too. Whatever you do, put poly - a couple of coats - over your work. I had done this with all and the Sharpies in black stayed true for about a year in Western NY - left them out all winter, too. I might try acrylics, next!

    Hi Jill,

I made concrete mushrooms and painted them with a sealer then an enamel (Oil) paint, the paint faded and peeled after a few months in the garden. I then stripped the paint off resealed the concrete and painted them with an acrylic (latex) paint, they still look fantastic - red with white polkadots (I'm going to put it up on here soon how I did it). after a full summer and early winter. So painting rocks should be ok too with the exterior latex paint.
