Spring curtain rods sold with other rods in most stores fit between the walls in the window opening. Be sure to adjust them so they fit tightly so they don't slip. Depending on the size of the rod and the expanse to cover, be careful of the weight of the fabric you use.

why don't you try small command hooks at ends and one or two in center?

Use tension rods. They fit inside the window frame. They come in a variety of sizes and are adjustable. I have some that are close to 30 years old and the only thing I've had to replace are the little rubber end caps.

Tension rods work perfectly. I would choose a light curtain.

If the window frame is recessed, a tension rod will work.

You could use the removable hooks that don't damage the walls , Put up the hooks and then rest the curtain rod in the hook. Make sure to buy hooks that can support the most weight. Also you could use tension rods on the inside of the window frame.

This is a standard clause used in leases, including commercial leases.

Call the landlord & ask kindly about this. Most will say it's ok BUT you need to repair the holes OR some of your deposit will be used to pay for these repairs.
