This project has been in the mix for sometime. Not that I haven't been busy, but I do get easily distracted from all the new ideas that come out of Hometalk daily. Today, however is the day we bring home the bacon.
I began my project by searching the internet for "Piggy silhouette" and found dozens to choose from. I chose this particular one as I thought it would be the easiest to cut out on the scroll saw. But first, I had to transfer this to a workable model.
To be completely honest, my artistic ability is somewhat limited. I can by all definition, draw a straight line using a ruler, so I began by making a grid. With my eye on the picture, I began by sketching in each section lightly.
When satisfied with my lines, I used a Sharpy to sharpen up the outline.
And then cut out to use as a template. Using this, I transferred the image to my wood piece and cut it out of the wood, using a scroll saw.
Still looking a bit rough, I sanded and cleaned.
I used the Zinzer 123 primer, putting on two coats all sides and followed that with the Valspar Chalk Paint.
I drilled two holes for the Suede cord to hand, added a little tail from a wire clothes hanger. The pink button for the nose was a bit of an afterthought. However, for the chalk holder, I painted and glued on the rack holder from the Scrabble game and added a magnet to hold the altered clothes pin for notes. Making the altered clothes pin was another project of mine that I added in February to Hometalk "Fun Project for Kids and Grandkids". http://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/rooms/fu... is but one of the projects, I've used them on. You can check that out if you want a closer look at them and how I did it.
And there she is, she made it all the way home - to Hometalk that is.
