I have a coffee table that is like an antique white wood (veneer) top, and black iron metal wheels on the bottom... I want to make this into something to put into my garden and put plants in... didn't know if I should just cut holes of different sizes for pots or add to it some for more height... I added a picture but mine is an antique white color... any help would be amazing!!!!!

Love your idea but I wouldn't cut holes in it maybe add barn wood pieces to the sides! Super cute

Do not put holes in it but do add a protective outdoor coating on it,then make assorted container plantings and place on top

Oh no , I would not cut holes, to cute to do that to. I agree with others seal it really good and add different sized pots with different sized plants , maybe even a big pot next to cart with a tree like a small lemon tree ,not only colorful but useful. It can even be brought in if you have harsh winters. Maybe a little ground cover along wall too . Hang a metal hanging above this all on side wall and you will have a stunning wall display for the side of your home. Post a pic when your done.

I would definitely not cut holes either. But, depending on the look you are going for maybe you don't want it sealed. If you want a rustic look just put it out there! Pile the pots on and have some along the sides that trail off.

I would not cut holes in it. You could use spar varnish to protect it.

Should be cute. I would save myself the work and just put the pots on top rather than making holes to ' sink ' them.

I have this exact coffee table in the picture. No way would I cut holes in it. You may want to use it for something else later on down the line. Cute idea. I def would put a sealant on it so it doesn't rot. Maybe make a container garden on top with some tall pots and a large saucer with some succulents. Would look awesome. An old metal watering can sitting on top with a trailing plant would complete the look.

Can I buy it as is? Way to cute to be cut apart. I would purchase a large rubber mat cut it to size and stack various size pots on it. The greenery could tumble from one pot to the other and off the cart.

    Good Luck

I like the suggestion of barn wood around the edges. You could make the sides considerably taller and set pots in, or plant directly in wallpaper trays. That way you could put water in the wallpaper tray if you were going to be away and your plants would survive. Just for strength I would double up the wallpaper trays. Might be good for planting an herb garden.

I'm imagining it white... WOW! I wouldn't't put it outside! I wouldn't do anything to it except maybe distress it a little and keep it on display with only a single plant and maybe a few small decorations.

And please, use protection under the plant(s). If you do put it outside, it will deteriorate, unless you have coated it several times in a clear coat.

You may want to try to sell it if you don't want it inside, I'd bet you'd get a pretty nice price from home talkers! Good luck! It is a beautiful piece of art!

Don't wreck it by cutting holes in it. Just place the pots on top.

Love it!! I would put a wagon handle on the front and place an old wash tub smaller version along with old pail and old watering can and place flowers in them for summer. be sure to drill hole in the bottoms, then when fall rolls around place colored mums and Christmas add fake trees various sizes along with wrapped plaid gifts with bows.
