Rust-oleum makes a door paint. Should do a good job on metal outside door, since that is what it is made for. Make sure to prepare it as per instuctions.
I've had the best luck with spray on Krylon for metal, my out door metal frame for my swing came out awesome and I did very little sanding. It sat in the weather for 7 years before I updated it. Looks like new. Covers well.
I used an exterior paint called Marguee from Home Depot. It is expensive but try to get it when on sale. The other one that I have not used but heard is great is Sherwin Williams DTM (direct to metal) paint.
Rusteloum is quite good too. I used their enamel for metal on a couple of old windows and they turned out great and are still looking good. Can get it at Walmart.
