Hang it on the wall , put some simple black magnets on it and use it as a memo board. I'd probably white wash the edges first though .
Paint chalkboard (any color) into wood area for fun message of the day or a paint a fun scene. Add a silk flower arrangement or just a vine. Turn it upside down use the horizontal space between two posts for tiny knick knacks or hang a mini triangle flag banner (I know this has a name can't think of it) from one post to the other. Like the magnet idea. Make fabric flower magnets. What a great project wish I had one!
They make cute displays in the laundry room.
You can also put a small dowel across the bottom and use that part as towel rack. Kitchen towels, hand towels, etc. Maybe you could also put little cup hooks under the top edge to hang keys of other items. :)
I have one from my grandmother. It has the name of some company on it. I just hang it on a wall and love it. Maybe you could find something on line. Print it out and decoupage on.
Use it to put decorative magnets on. You could also put on magnetic hooks to hold those "lost" socks we all seem to have!
i think these old wash boards should be preserved as much as possible for their character. i like though the idea of adding a dowel at the bottom and then hanging it and using it for a towel bar of sorts. you keep the character of the wash board yet you have something new out of it!
or yes! just hang it on the wall. i have three different kinds hanging in my laundry room. reminds me of my grandmother (two of mine were from her) and makes me smile!
make it the focus of your laundry room, shop at Kohls they have great decorations
I like the idea of hanging it in the laundry room, stencil an expression ,"Keep It Clean" or "Please Sort It" , with magnets holding a note "whites" or "colours" there is even clothespin magnets or make your own. Love the washboard!
The magnet idea is good, but it looks like her "scrubby" part is made of glass, so that wouldn't work. Unless I'm missing something...
I have two of them hanging on my wall. The larger of the two, 24"x 12" manufactured by successors to The S. Louis Wooden Ware Works, has an aluminum scrub board, hence magnets will no stick. Like I said, mine are looking nice hanging on my kitchen wall next to the wash room.
They are vintage pieces and may be worth doing a Google search to find out their value.
No, I've seen glass ones before. In fact I had one myself until it accidently got knocked over and broke. 😣
One hangs in the laundry room...
