I had a tree cut down this June 2018 and I specified to leave the stumps and painted a line where I wanted them to stop cutting. In the end, I repurposed the stumps into two tropical besties! In the future, I will make the stumps into castles but for now this is how they stand in my yard. Yes, you can make your DEAD stump into a decoration.
