I have 1 room in my house that has an extra wide opening and no door because our cat eats EVERYTHING (including artificial flowers, wire, you name it!) we have to keep her out. I have built a makeshift wall with fiberboard, but she squeezes behind it! Help!!!

Youā€™ll need a 2-ounce (59 ml) glass spray bottle. Squeeze 2 drops of lemon essential oil, 2 drops of wild orange essential oil, and 2 drops of lavender essential oil to the bottle.

Cats are more sensitive to scents than humans, so essential oils with strong odors, such as citrus and lavender, can help repel them. You can substitute lime, peppermint, and/or eucalyptus for the lemon, wild orange, and lavender if you prefer.

Itā€™s important to use a glass bottle for the spray because essential oils degrade more easily in a plastic bottle.

Thanks, we've tried something similar, but come home to her in the room! She knows we can't spray her then!!

I have seen fence-like baby gates with doors in them so people can go through. Try doing a search online.

I have screen doors on all of our bedrooms, and my office...rooms get good ventilation, don't feel 'closed in', can hear whats going on in the rest of the house...but it keeps the cats out!..and the dog too!

Go to frontgate.com and pick out a gate to go there. They have beautiful ones all sizes and heights

I like that idea. Wonder if I could get one extra large?

As a cat mom Robbie you know you don't keep a cat from doing anything. They are persistent little creatures. LolšŸ˜¼ my question is how do you keep him from eating everything in your other rooms? Maybe Jackson from my cat from hell could help.

Cats LAUGH at gates! They jump over them, climb thru them etc! Sounds like you have a kitten. Best advice is to keep him occupied with a little stash of toys in a box he or she can rummage through. Fill one or two with catnip and put at the bottom of the box. They will outgrow the knocking everything over and chewing everything. Fill a spray bottle with water and each time the cat does a no no, spray him with the water and say NO! Usually only will take a few times and they will stop. Cats are super smart!
