Fired Ink Art

3 Materials
10 Minutes

Here is a unique way create art using ink, rubbing acohol, and fire!
You will need alcohol ink which you can find in most craft stores in the stamping aisle. The ink must be alcohol based.
Along with your ink, you will need 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol which can be found in the first aid aisle of most stores.
Pour the rubbing alcohol into a dropper bottle.
You will also need a baking sheet covered in aluminum foil, a picture frame and a lighter.
Begin by removing the back and glass from your picture frame.
Carefully place the glass onto the aluminum foil covered baking sheet.
Drop the ink onto the glass.
Drop the alcohol onto the ink.
You can pick up the glass and allow the colors to swirl together; however, the more you swirl, the more the colors will mix.

Using a long lighter, set the alcohol on fire.
Allow the flame to burn itself out. This only takes a few seconds.
Allow the glass to dry.
Place the glass back into the frame.
Add a piece of what paper behind the glass.
Place the back onto the frame.

You could do several for a gallery effect. Besides, once you start creating, you won't want to stop.
They also look great on a window with the lights shining through.
Place the glass back inside the frame and secure the glass with the clips on the edges of the frame.
I attached mine using double-sized tape or you could attach a string and hang it.

If there is alcohol I the ink why do you need more alcohol?

The alcohol drops are to dilute the ink to make them run just enough to not just look like dots. It also causes some lines to feather. You could put the alcohol in a fine mister for a different effect. Then all the alcohol burns off at once and you let the ink completely dry and cure. Best wishes 😇

Yes it is. I’ve done several of these in the past. Do it exactly as she says. You can also get more creative using a straw and blowing on the ink. You can google the different designs you can come up with
