So, I always seem to have a lot of bars of hotel soap lying around. Probably because my depression-era grandmother would say, "waste not, want not," alot. Since I had all this soap, I wanted to do something with it.
I gathered up all the soap and separated it into interesting pieces and basic white bars.
Next, I observed my sad, sad boring bathroom area
I found this old apothecary jar in a closet. It was originally from a Costco chocolate Christmas gift. I've seen others at Home Goods for around $15-20.
Next, insert soap into vessel! I started out with my ugliest soaps and tried to focus on putting the interesting shape, color, and texture bars of soap around the edges.
So, that's when I noticed that this is a REALLY large jar and there is room for more bars of soap. I could either see this as a 1/2 done project OR figure out a plan B until I get more hotel soap. This is where I went in search of an old natural sponge that had come in a gift basket years ago. I didn't want to use it because it looked so fancy, so it was just hanging around.
natural sponge could easily be substituted for some of these
I also found an interesting looking loofah that I got from a hotel. Yes, I save everything and am totally cheap. I know.
Before experimenting with sponges, I added a bit of ribbon to the top.
Next, heres what it looked like with the cheaper sponges
This might be better for a kids bathroom, but I wanted a more mature look so I tried the natural sponge and loofah. Here's the final product:
Well, at least it's final until I get more soap.....I like it and hope it gives you some fun and creative ideas too!

Adorable! I can't wait to try this!

Such a creative use of random items that usually just sit around or get thrown away.
