I had a house without shutters...we found no benefit and instead had to deal with pooling water and worry about leaking water in the basement...we ended up getting them added, problems solbed. So I would say No Benefits!

I agree you definitely need gutters! This will turn into a financial nightmare.

No benefit...you need to divert water from the foundation. Also, water pouring off the roof causes siding to be muddy and damp near the ground.

Nope, can't think of any. But I can think of many reasons why you should have them.

If you are concerned about climbing up a ladder and cleaning them, there are many types of gutter guards on the market that are not expensive and can be installed when you put up the gutters.

In southern california I am surprised by the lack of gutters. When it only rains twice a year I suppose you don't need them.
