I have used baking soda and hot water with a little bit of Dawn dishwashig liquid to make a paste and scrubbed it into th grout wih a toothbrush, let it sit about 20 minutes, then mopped the floor, making sure to rinse it well. It worked like a dream for me. A friend of mine said she had luck just using a whitening toothpast on the grout and brushing it in. She figured if it would whiten teeth it would whiten grout! HAH! and it worked for her (just seems expensive to me). There is a webpage by Bob Vila with a way to get grout clean and keep it clean afterward. I am posting it below in case you want to check it out. Good Luck! :) Thanks for asking Hometalk for help.

Buy a bottle of Clorox gel toilet bowl cleaner. Squirt it along the grout lines and wait 10-15 minutes. Give a light scrub with a brush and rinse. Clean grout for under $3.00!

Squirt Clorox toilet bowl gel along the lines and let it sit 10-15 minutes. Then scrub and rinse. I would use a commercial grout sealer after to keep it clean.

Hi there, You can make a thin paste of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Apply it to the grout and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse clean. If the grout between the tiles has worn down too far, it may be a better idea to first re-grout and then seal. You can also buy grout pens to quickly “recolor” your grout and make them look new again.
