Super Cute Use of Scrap Wood, A Wall Key Rack

I was getting fed up with the amount of time I spent looking for my keys before I left the house. So I decided to make a wall rack for them, the idea being that I hang them up on the rack so I know exactly where they are. So far it's worked!
This key holder is a truly a junk project, I made it using scrap wood and rusty nails. It, however, is super cute and is supposed to look like the houses in my street. Except, of course, we don't have flowery roofs, unfortunately.
To finish off I stamped my streets name onto the rack. These racks would make a lovely gift as you can personalize them by stamping on the recipient's own street/neighborhood name.
The first thing I did was saw some scraps of wood to make the houses.
I used a hacksaw for this and cut 3 blocks with about 2 inches high and 1inch thick. I sawed the top to form pointed roofs.
I also cut a bit of baseboard (skirting board) for the base of my key holder.
To make the houses I painted them different colours. I painted on windows and doors and stuck fabric scraps on the roof to make them decorative. To finish off the look I added an old nail for the chimney.
I also made the cute tree by needle felting some green wool into a ball and used a large rusty nail as a tree trunk. (details on the blog).
To make this key rack extra special and personal I used a letter stamp set (see here) to stamp my street name onto the rack.
I hammered in 3 bent large rusty nails in to make the key hooks. The houses were added to the top of the key holder using a hot glue gun.
Since putting my key holder up lots of family and friends have requested one too. So I've been on the hunt for my rusty nails and will be making lots for presents. Stamping their street names onto the rack.
