I prefer Rustoleum paint. Use a wire brush to remove any rust. Sand if needed. Paint with Rustoleum paint and you should be all set. There is spray and brush on paint available.

We need to paint our white aluminum screen enclosure, but what I'm noticing is that the powder coated finish is powdery (if that made sense). Pressure washing doesn't seem to remove all of it and now when I wash it off I get a white chalky residue running down my screens (that is difficult to remove). I don't know if your rails were originally powder coated, but if it's chalky it could affect the adherence of the paint. I'm still in the thinking phase as to whether I want to take this on as a DIY or whether it would be better to get some estimates (because of the height, I'm leaning more toward estimates). Of course, my job is A LOT bigger than yours. I'm sure you can paint them, just check into the prep needed.

Sure you can, tho you may want to use some sand paper first, then choose your color. Do this in the early morn, after the dew lifts, and then you can give it a second coat, later in the day, about 3:00 PM. Best wishes, J.

Thank you..mine are aluminum but I think the idea is about the same as for iron...except I don't have to deal with rust..

Rustoleum paint for metal in sheen of your choice! Good luck!

Great advice already. I trust Rust-oleum, and it comes in many colors. The white looks good in the photo, but you could do whatever you like. Best wishes 😇

thank you for responding..I too was thinking sand paper would be a good idea or a liquid sandpaper..

I chipped off any old paint, gave them a sanding, washed, let dry completely, and went to town painting.
