Grab a fresh roll of thick paper towels and your iron (no steam ) this is going to take a while . Heat up the iron on a bath towel so you don't damage the rest of your flooring . Place a paper towel over a section of wax and iron . The towel will soak up some of the wax ,but since you couldn't scrape it up, it may take a long time to get it all so just toss the saturated paper towel in trash and get another one until the area in clean, then move on to another section . It's time consuming but it works . I've done it more than once lol.
I used the hot iron on some new berber carpet. It took a bit of time, but it worked well. Take your time, it will come up and look fine.
lay a towel on the area with a warm iron
Put several paper towels over rug. Put a warm .....I mean not hot! Iron over towel to soften wax to lift off. Then use rug shampoo if there is a spot
paper towel & iron work wonders! My kids constantly knock over my wax warmers lol.
Have you tried applying ice until the wax is cold enough to break off?
Paper towels and a warm iron to start, as others have said. But before the rug shampoo, use an orange oil based degreaser (test for colorfastness somewhere inconspicuous first). Blot all that up and THEN use a rug shampoo to get the degreaser out. This should alleviate the challenge of a hidden sticky spot that collects dirt and ends up discolored later. (I'm a pastor and getting wax out of carpets after Christmas Eve is a real thing.)
