How can I create storage for my craft supplies and tools on a budget?

I need to organize my crafting corner. I can't afford to buy anything right now, so I'm trying to use what I have: 2 small 3 drawer plastic organizers, 1 extra large plastic 3 drawer organizer, a few plastic bins and my desk. I work with a lot of cardboard and like to reuse things instead of throwing them out in the trash or recycling. I just can't think of anything that will organize my tools/supplies.

Try using old towel bars for rolls of whatever and an extra piece of wood across furniture so you can add empty cardboard on top and across the room. Also consider using a small peg board near your desk for other tools.

You could make small containers for your organizers to contain smaller items within each drawer or make dividers with some of the left over strips of cardboard from your projects. In larger things like bins, use larger dividers across the bins to hold pieces of cardboard you will be using and patterns, etc. to keep them in their places. I also have used the plastic shoe boxes or even the boxes your shoes come in to hold different items within larger totes. I always label my bins with what is inside since you can't see through the bins or the containers within.

You should separate your craft materials into categories. Then use some of your cardboard to make some dividers for your organizers to fit the sizes of your groups of items. You can also use small boxes as dividers after you have used up what was in them! (Empty tea boxes, jello boxes, raisin boxes, etc.) For your larger bins, use empty shoe boxes or large ziptop storage bags. By grouping your items you can make the most of the storage units you already have. Hope this helps!

Don't forget to 'look up'. Hanging baskets, small hammocks etc can hold a lot of things out of the way.

You could use old cupcake tons for the little things like tacks, pins, paper clips, etc.. Use old soup cans for your tools (you can cover them with nice paper to match your decor). I even use small and larger baskets to organize crafting supplies. Just have fun doing it.
