Welcome Anyone and Anything Chalkboard Sign
I love making signs. Usually I hand paint them all, but I had this vinyl "welcome" sitting around...and finally it hit me - we have so many guests all the time...and, well, they need to be welcomed properly! With some vinyl (or paint/stencils) some paint, and chalkboard paint, you can make a sweet welcome sign for your front porch...or anywhere - I have made numerous signs for guest bedrooms!
I first did this project in 2012...but with that chalkboard paint...you can celebrate any year, any holiday, or anyone with the swipe of a eraser.

The supplies are simple:
a board (12" x 24"), paint - your choice of color, chalkboard paint, 2 paint brushes, sandpaper/hand sander, tape.
Paint the entire board and let it dry. Paint 2 coats.
FIRST - pretend like there is no chalkboard strip painted on the wood yet. After the board has dried, use sandpaper or a hand sander and sand allover for a distressed look. Wipe clean with a tack cloth.
"Dry" place your welcome vinyl/stencil on the center of the board, but towards the top, and tape down.
Paint the chalkboard strip under the "welcome." You need to apply 2-3 coats and let it dry for 24 hours. My strip has rough edges..if you want clean edges tape a "perfect" rectangle with tape and paint inside of it.
Follow the vinyl instruction: peel off the backing, place on the board. Rub all over on the transfer paper to secure the vinyl to the wood. Remove the transfer paper from the board carefully, starting at the bottom corner.
